Lin has a pretty good view of the old apartment block from the mouth of the alley he’s parked in.  Next to him, Jing checks out the glovebox, scoring a couple of lollipops.  He offers one to Lin.

“We have lollipops.”

Lin hears a slight rustle behind him, of cloth on leather.  He looks into the mirror, and a pair of eyes stare at him from the back seat in return.  The sweets fall from Jing’s hand as he and Lin spin around in their seats.

“Good … afternoon, gentleman,” purrs the Manifold Man, smiling with too many teeth, like a shark.

  1. Now you’re just doing that to make me giggle and clap!

  2. Believe me Brendan, I’m never above gratuitous fanservice. This is my continuity link to the events at the end of Ashlock; I’ve been waiting to explain how they became soulless minions of unorthodoxy!
