Control 16

Turn on, turn off.

Open, close.

Brighten, dim.

In the world of Control 16, everything is regulated.  The lights slowly dim and brighten to a cycle independent of the solar day.  The air is warm and dry, kept gently moving by fans that whir softly in the background.  The only other sound that can be heard is the low buzz of bees moving from flower to flower.

Control 16 is a world painted from a limited palette.  The soft white netting of the walls forms both the horizon and the sky.  Beneath this ivory firmament is a sea of green; row upon row of hydroponic beds that stretch almost the length of the space, split up by narrow paths between them.

Interspersed throughout the foliage are the hives; stacks of white boxes that rise up like skyscrapers amongst verdant city blocks.  Within each, a community thrives, venturing out into the world of Control 16 with each artificial dawn.

Turn on, turn off.

Open, close.

Brighten, dim.
